GYEONGJU WINTER TRAVEL GUIDE (1)

Even a bitter wind cannot freeze the thrill of a traveler.
Set out, Gyeongju’s winter is waiting for you.

Due to the wind blowing along the northern breeze path, if you wish to travel, you will have to find a place to travel indoors. Gyeongju has a number of indoor attractions where you can enjoy four seasons.

1ST, GYEONGJU EAST PALACE GARDEN

Since its opening in 2013, Gyeongju East Palace Garden has become a “named” attraction in Gyeongju with more than one million people visited. Gyeongju established this theme park by reinterpreting a historic record that King Munmu raised precious plants and animals in Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond. The park consists of Donggung Botanical Garden with Halls 1 & 2, Bird Park, and an agricultural experience facility.
East Palace Garden is “a warm southern kingdom” throughout the year. In the botanical garden, thousands of subtropical plants with different species boast their green figures, and birds from faraway countries fly around inside the warm greenhouse.
Definitely, it is the first winter travel attraction to visit in Gyeongju.

You can spend the whole day in “Silla History Hall” where you can follow the footsteps of the millennial kingdom, “Silla Art Hall” with full of masterpieces centered on Buddhist arts, “Wolji Hall,“ a theme park housing 1,000 pieces of artifacts which were carefully selected out of 30,000 found at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, or ”Outdoor Exhibition Hall“ where you can enjoy the feeling of playing a treasure-hunt game.

Tips: Although all artifacts are precious without any differences, if you are concerned about which artifacts you might pay attention to, you may print out a material called “100 Masterpieces” from the Gyeongju National Museum’s website. Also, you can use the exhibition commentary service at the museum twice a day.
